Printing guide
Print coloring pages that fit your paper
A practical guide to A4 and US Letter, clean margins, sharp lines, and fixing prints that come out too small or get clipped.

Start with the paper in your tray
A4 measures 210 × 297 mm. US Letter measures 8.5 × 11 inches, or about 216 × 279 mm. Letter is a little wider and shorter, so a page designed for A4 can lose its top or bottom if you print it at actual size on Letter paper.
Select the paper size in both the print dialog and the printer settings. For a first print, use Fit to printable area or the equivalent option in your PDF viewer. It scales the whole drawing inside the printer’s usable area. Use Actual size only when you know the page already fits.
Download the artwork before printing
Open the coloring page and use its download action rather than printing a screenshot of the website. Screenshots include the screen’s resolution limits and may include navigation, captions, or controls. A downloaded original preserves the artwork without that surrounding interface.
When a PDF download is available, open it in a PDF viewer. When you have an image, use the image viewer’s print dialog and inspect the preview. Turn off browser headers and footers if you are printing from a browser.
Match the paper to your coloring materials
Ordinary printer paper is a reasonable starting point for crayons and colored pencils. Wet markers can bleed through, so use a backing sheet and try a small area first. Check the printer’s supported paper weight before loading heavier stock; not every printer can feed cardstock.
Print one test page before making a whole set. Check that the smallest spaces are comfortable to color and that the line weight suits your materials. A larger, simpler page is often more useful than a very detailed image shrunk to fit.
